Memaloose State Park Campground

Memaloose State Park is in the Columbia River Gorge, 14 miles west of The Dalles. The park is a favorite stopping place for those exploring the river. Tall cottonwoods, maples, and willows provide welcome shade on summer days, and a gentle breeze sweeps down the valley. A playground in the park keeps children engaged. At night visitors gather in open areas to gaze the stars. There is no safe or legal river access from the park.

Memaloose State Park Campground features 109 campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents. Full hook-ups are available at 43 of the sites. Some campsites have wonderful river views. This popular campground fills early. Campers do pick up some highway and train noise.

Memaloose State Park Campground Location: Westbound on Interstate 84, watch for the signed exit about 11 miles west of the Dalles.
Eastbound, take exit 76 and go back three miles westbound on the freeway. Drive through the rest area to the campground entrance.

Key Memaloose State Park Campground Regulations

  1. Campfires may only be lit in provided fire rings.
  2. Purchase firewood in the park. Collecting firewood is prohibited.
  3. Bicycle riders under the age of 16 must wear helmets.
  4. Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  5. Use of generators is not permitted.
  6. There is a 5 MPH speed limit in the campground.
  7. Pets must be kept on leash and attended at all times. At night they must be kept in a vehicle or tent.
