Devil's Lake State Recreation Area Campground is at the western end of Devil's Lake in Lincoln City, only a short walk from the Oregon coast. The 3-mile long lake is popular for all kinds of boating from kayaks to jet skis. Boat rentals are nearby. Devil's Lake also attracts anglers, swimmers, and wildlife viewers. A 10-minute walk from the campground leads to D River State Recreation Site (shown above) with a wide, sandy ocean beach.

Devil's Lake State Recreation Area Campground has 28 campsites with full hook-ups, including cable TV, along with 5 sites with electric and water hook-ups (and 4 of them with cable TV) and 54 tent sites. Some tent sites can accommodate trailers under 14 feet. Those seeking a yurt can choose from 10, with 5 of them pet-friendly. The campground also has a hiker/biker camp. None of the campsites have lake views.

Attractions near Devil's Lake State Recreation Area Campground: Launch your boat at the day-use area off East Devil's Lake Road and moor it at slip by campground ($10 per day). Fish for rainbow trout, yellow perch, largemouth bass, and others. Summer interpretive programs are offered at the grassy amphitheater. Devil's Lake wetlands offer great birding. Walk to the beach at D River State Recreation Site.


Devil's Lake Yurts

Devil's Lake State Recreation Area Campground offers 10 yurts. Yurts have hard-surface floors, lockable doors, electric lights, and heating. Inside are beds with vinyl-covered mattresses. Outside are a fire ring and picnic table. Although yurts are designated for 8 people, beds for only 5 people are inside the yurt. Some sites have an 8-foot square tent space available outside. No bedding is provided.

Sites can accommodate a pickup camper or mini-van. Check the specifics for your yurt site on the reservation website. No travel trailers of any kind are permitted. For the five yurts approved for pets, only two cats or dogs are permitted. No cooking or smoking are allowed inside the yurt. The park cautions that during the colder season, usually October through April, the tent can become very wet.

Key Devil's Lake State Recreation Area Campground Regulations

  1. Campfires may only be lit in provided fire rings.
  2. Bicycle riders under the age of 16 must wear helmets.
  3. Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  4. Pets must be kept on leash and attended at all times. At night they must be kept in a vehicle or tent.
  5. Anglers who catch a Chinese Grass Carp, must release it. They control vegetation.

Attractions and Activities

  • At Devil's Lake in Lincoln City rent kayaks, try paddle boating, head out wind and kit boarding, and swim at Regatta Grounds Park or Sandpoint Park.
  • Visit D River State Recreation Site in Lincoln City. It is known as the Kit Capital of the World. Attend kite festivals in June and October.
  • Search for hand-crafted glass balls on the beaches by Lincoln City. It's all part of the Lincoln City's Finders Keepers program.
  • Stop by Otter Crest State Scenic Viewpoint, an overlook standing 500 feet above the ocean.
  • Tour the historic Yaquina Bay Lighthouse.
  • Find opportunities for fishing, crabbing, and clamming in the area around Yaquina Bay.
  • Learn about marine animals at the Mark O. Hatfield Marine Science Center operated by Oregon State University.
  • Spend fascinating hours in the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport.
  • In South Beach State Park hike along the Cooper Ridge Nature Trail and the South Jetty Trail, a 10-foot wide, ADA-accessible pedestrian/bicycle path.
  • Take the kids over to Coast Park with state-of-the-art play equipment, including a shipwreck.
  • Visit nearby Cape Perpetua Scenic Area with spectacular views from the headlands. The Visitor Center is open every day. Hiking trails abound.
  • North of Waldport explore the Seal Rock State Recreation Site. View seals, sea lions, and birds which frequent the off-shore rocks. Tidepools and sandy beaches are also an attraction
  • Near Waldport, spend the day at the Governor Patterson Memorial State Recreation Site with miles of flat, sandy beach.
  • Visit Brian Booth State Park for great beachcombing and for kayaking in the Beaver Creek Wetland.
