Sixes River Campground began as a 19th century gold mining camp and today is still frequented by gold-panners. The river is popular with anglers and hikers who enjoy the wildlife in the area. Campers can wade in the river or simply relax in the shady campground away from the busier campgrounds along the coast.

Sixes River Campground has 19 campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents. The sites are well shaded by trees and are available first-come, first-served. Note that the campground has no drinking water, so bring along plenty.

  • Set out fishing and boating in the Sixes River.
  • Try your luck at gold panning in the river.
  • Explore the Floras Lake State Natural Area.
  • Tour the Cape Blanco Lighthouse and the historic Hughes House, April-October 31, Wednesday through Monday, 10 AM - 3:30 PM. (Closed on Tuesdays.)
