Aspen Point Campground is on the northeast shore of Lake of the Woods in the Fremont-Winema National Forest, 36 miles northwest of Klamath Falls. The 1250-acre Lake of the Woods is popular for fishing for brown and rainbow trout, large and smallmouth bass, Kokanee salmon, and many other species. Nearby Lake of the Woods Resort has a marina with boat rentals and moorage. Lake of the Woods is favored for all kinds of boating. Aspen Point Campground makes a great base for hiking, fishing, hunting, horseback riding and biking.

Aspen Point Campground has 57 campsites. Seven are for tents only. The remainder can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. Seven campsites are doubles. Many can be reserved ahead of time, others are kept available as first-come, first-served. A boat ramp and a beach are included in day-use part of the campground. There is also a Group Campsite.

The group campsite at Aspen Point Campground can accommodate up to 100 people and 19 vehicles. The site is designed for tents and up to 4 RVs among the 19 vehicles. Reservations can be made from 4 days up to 12 months in advance of arrival date.

Attractions and Activities

  • Rent a boat at Lake of the Woods Resort. Then have a meal at their fine restaurant.
  • Go mountain biking on the 1.8-mile Sunset Trail connecting Aspen Point to Sunset Campground.
  • Set out for a hike on the Mountain Lakes Trail, east of Lake of the Woods.
  • Drive over to the Upper Klamath National Wildlife Refuge.
  • Try mountain biking around Fish Lake or along Lower South Fork Trail.
  • Test your luck fishing at Fish Lake or on Abbott Creek.
  • Set out hiking up the Alkali Creek Falls Trail #1055.
  • Enjoy the 1.4-mile Devils Peak trail in the Sky Lakes Wilderness.
  • Have some OHV fun at Woodruff on the Minnehaha trail #1039.
  • Take your kayak out on Fish Lake or Lake of the Woods.
  • Take advantage of the Rainbow Bay Day Use Area at Lake of the Woods.

Key Aspen Point Campground Regulations

  1. Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  2. Campfires may only be in developed fire pits.
  3. Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times. At night they must be kept in a vehicle or tent.
