Lone Pine Campground

Lone Pine Campground is in the Crooked River canyon, 14.8 miles south of Prineville. The area along the canyon is designated as Lower Crooked Wild & Scenic River, which extends 10 miles from Bowman Dam at Prineville Reservoir north along Highway 27 just past Castle Rock Campground. The area is popular for fishing and advanced-skill rafting at some locations. Anglers have good luck landing rainbow and redband trout. If any steelhead trout are caught, they must be kept in the water and released immediately. Along the river canyon are an every-changing array of geologic formations.

Lone Pine Campground is one of 9 primitive campgrounds operated by the Bureau of Land Management along this segment of the Crooked River. Lone Pine campground is composed of 6 campsites open year-round. There is no piped water at the campground, but water is available 1.7 miles upstream at Chimney Rock Campground. All campsites are first-come, first served. The campground was named for a solitary Ponderosa Pine tree in the center of the area. There is also a small group area at the campground.
