Mazama and Lost Creek

Crater Lake National Park draws visitors from around the world. The most popular attraction is the Rim Drive around the crater, usually opening in late June or early July when the snow has been cleared. The Rim Drive closes around November 1. Bicycling, hiking, swimming, fishing, ranger programs, and trolley tours are all favorites of park visitor.

Crater Lake National Park has two campgrounds - Mazama (sometimes called Mazama Village) and Lost Creek.

Mazama Campground is just inside the Annie Spring entrance to the park, along Highway 62. The campground has 214 sites for RVs, trailers, and tents. A few sites have electric hook-ups. And area is set aside for Pacific Crest Trail hikers to camp.

Lost Creek Campground is in the southeast corner of the park on a spur road that leads to the Pinnacles Overlook. The campground has 16 first-come, first served campsites designated for tent camping only. Depending on weather conditions, Lost Creek is open from July through early October. Lost Creek has flush toilets, piped water, picnic tables, fire rings, and food storage lockers.

Reservations Available	Reservations are available for 75% of campsites at Mazama during July, August, and most of September. Twenty-five percent are kept as first-come, first served in the summer. During other times all campsites are first-come, first served. Lost Creek is always first-come, first served.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the website when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

Accessible Sites

Designated Accessible sites are reserved for people with disabilities who have a vehicle displaying an accessible parking placard or license plate

Spend time at the Steel Visitor Center near the South Entrance.
Hike down the Cleetwood Trail to the edge of the lake.
Make the Rim Drive for wonderful viewpoints of the crater and lake.
Take the Crater Lake Trolley Tour.
Tour the Rim Visitor Center.
Join a ranger guided walk, talk, or evening program.
Children 6 to 12 can participate in the Junior Ranger Program.

Key Crater Lake Campground Regulations

Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Generators are permitted from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Generators are not permitted at Lost Creek Campground.
Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times. At night they must be kept in a vehicle or tent.
RV Campsites may have up to 2 tents in addition to the RV if space allows. The RV site may not be exclusively used for tent camping.
