Sunset Cove Campground

Sunset Cove Campground is on the eastern shore of Odell Lake in the Deschutes National Forest.

Visitors to the area enjoy all kinds of boating and water sports on Odell Lake. A boat launch ramp is in the campground. Fishing is good for kokanee salmon, mackinaw trout, and brown trout. Nearby hiking trails lead to scenic destinations.

Sunset Cove Campground features 20 single campsites and 1 double campsite spread through a forest of Douglas fir, white fir, spruce, and hemlock. Seven campsites have pull-through driveways. Reservations are available. The campground is close to Highway 58, so campers can expect to hear some highway noise. A few first-come, first-served boat slips are available at the campground.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the website when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

Attractions and Activities

Plan your visit for the annual Mackinaw Derby, usually held in early June.
Rent a boat from Odell Lake Lodge and Resort.
Odell Lake is a popular spot for all kinds of boating and water sports, including water skiing and jets skis. Be wary of afternoon winds that can become dangerous to boaters.
Find boat ramps at campgrounds and at Shelter Cove Resort & Marina. They also have boat rentals.
Fish Odell Lake for rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, mackinaw trout, and brown trout.
Use the Willamette Pass Trailhead for the Pacific Crest Trail. Hike north to Lower Rosary Lake or south toward Diamond Peak.
Take the 2.5-mile loop Diamond Creek Falls Trail providing views of Lower Diamond Creek Falls and Salt Creek Canyon. Be more adventurous and continue on to the upper falls.
Make a day trip south to Crescent Lake.

Key Sunset Cove Campground Regulations

Campfires may only be in campground provided fire pits.
Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times.
Use of chainsaws is not permitted in the campground.
Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
