Scout Lake Group Campground

Scout Lake Group Campground is close to Scout Lake (shown above) in the Deschutes National Forest. The campground is a mixed-use facility with 1 single family site (#6) available. Other sites are doubles (#3, 4A, 4B, 5, 7 and 8) and triples (#1, 2 and 9). One campsite is for tents only while all the others can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. The entire campground can be rented as a large group site for up to 100 people. The nearby day-use area has multiple picnic tables and parking for up to 50 vehicles.

Only non-motorized boats are permitted on Scout Lake. A large beach in the day-use area is popular for wading and swimming. At nearby Suttle Lake, boating, water skiing, and fishing are popular. Hiking trails are available in the area. Note that dogs are not allowed at Scout Lake Day Use Area or anywhere around the lake.

Scout Lake Group Campground Location: From Sisters, Oregon, take Highway 20/126 northwest for 12 miles. Turn left onto Forest Service Road 2070. Travel just less than a mile and turn left again onto Forest Service Road 2066 and continue to the campground entrance on the right.

Key Scout Lake Group Campground Regulations

  1. Prevent the spread of invasive pests by obtaining firewood locally.
  2. Fires are only permitted in designated fire receptacles and must be attended. Fires must be extinguished upon departure.
  3. Pets must be kept on leash and attended at all times. Dogs are not allowed at the Scout Lake Day Use Area or around the lake.
  4. Avoid problems with bears by securing food and scented items in a vehicle or other bear-proof locker.
  5. Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
