Cottonwood Campground is in the Fremont-Winema National Forest, 30 miles northwest of Lakeview.

Nearby Cottonwood Meadows Lake is popular for non-motorized boats such as kayaks and canoes as well as electric-motor boats. Gas engine boats are not permitted on the lake. Boats are held to a 5 MPH speed limit. Fishing is excellent for brook and rainbow trout. The lake includes two day-use areas as well as a boat launch ramp. Nearby hiking trails wind around the lake and connect to other scenic routes.

Cottonwood Campground features 22 campsites, 4 of which are walk-in, tent-only sites. A single horse campsite includes a corral, hitching post, feeders, and trailer turn-around. Other sites can accommodate tents, RVs, and trailers ups to 35 feet. Mature ponderosa pines and aspens provide plenty of shade. All campsites are first-come, first-served.

Key Cottonwood Campground Regulations

  1. Pack food away out of sight in vehicles or hang from trees out of reach of bears. Do not leave food unattended in campsite.
  2. No motorized boats are permitted in the lake/
  3. Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  4. Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times. At night they must be kept in a vehicle or tent.
  5. Campfires may only be in developed fire pits.
