Fremont-Winema National Forest Campgrounds

Campgrounds in this part of the Fremont-Winema National Forest are in more arid country than those to the west, but many are still set among trees and beside gurgling steams. The campgrounds tend to be smaller than other places, many with as few as 5 or 7 campsites. Their remote locations make them nice retreats for those who want to find a quiet place to relax in the woods without a lot of distractions.

Recent forest fires caused severe damage to the trees around Campbell Lake. It may take years for the area to rebound. Neighboring Deadhorse Lake suffered some damage, but most of its surrounding forest still stands.

The maximum length of stay at most campgrounds is 14 days.

Campgrounds with Group Campsites: Deadhorse Lake Campground
