Western Oregon's Best Equestrian Campgrounds

An index to the best equestrian campgrounds in southern Oregon and along the entire Oregon coast. Campers with horses and other trail animals have a variety of campgrounds across the state from which to choose. The campgrounds are listed here by the campground areas displayed on the HOME page map.

While some equestrian campgrounds only offer basic facilities, many are equipped with corrals, watering troughs, horse washing stations, and other great amenities. Some are designated for groups while others offer individual campsites.




South-Central Oregon

Lily Glen Equestrian Campground

Located at the north end of Howard Prairie Lake, offering 12 family-size campsites and 2 group campsites. Log corrals at each campsite, hand-pumped water. Ride the Willow Prairie Horse Trail System.


Grants Pass Area

Lake Selmac County Park Horse Camp

Located near the entrance to the Mallard Loop campground. Six campsites with corrals for 2, 3, or 4 horses. Water available. Hot showers and flush toilets nearby in Mallard Campground. Ride the Osprey Trail, Saddlebag Trail, and the South Mountain Loop trails.


Umpqua River

(shown above in the masthead) - located off Interstate 5 northeast of Oakland on 1,100 acres of pastures, forests, and rolling hills. Fifteen equestrian sites with 1, 2, or 4-horse corrals. Water available. Extensive network of riding trails.


Deschutes National Forest

Whispering Pine Horse Camp, Oregon

Sheep Springs Horse Camp

Located in the Metolius River Basin southeast of Mt. Jefferson. Trails connect to the Metolius-Windigo Trail. Eleven 4-horse campsites, potable water.

Graham Corral Horse Camp

Six miles northwest of Sisters. Trails connect to the Metolius-Windigo Trail. Thirteen campsites, corrals, potable water.

Whispering Pine Horse Camp

Ten miles southwest of Sisters. Access to the Sisters Wilderness. Nine campsites with corrals. No potable water.

Three Creek Meadow Horsecamp

Located near Three Creek Lake west of Bend. Part horse camp, part standard campground. Nine horse campsites, 4-horse corrals, no potable water.

Quinn Meadow Horse Camp

Five miles west of Mt. Bachelor. Many good trails. Twenty-six campsites with 2 or 4-horse corrals. Potable water.

Mt. Hood National Forest

Jose Graham Horse Camp, Oregon

Clackamas Lake Campground

Located near Timothy Lake and Joe Graham Horse Camp. Shared campground with standard campsites and 11 horse campsites. Many with 2-4 horse corrals. Many good connecting trails. Potable water.

Joe Graham Horse Camp

Located near Timothy Lake and Clackamas Lake. Fourteen campsites, most with corrals from 1 up to 4 horses. Trails connect to Pacific Crest Trail. Potable water.

Riley Horse Camp

located along the Sandy River northeast of Zigzag. Fourteen campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents. Eleven sites with corrals, other with tie stalls or hitching rails. Water for stock, manure bins. Many wonderful riding trails.

Lost Lake Campground

Five wheelchair-accessible horse campsites, each with a corral and hitching post. Miles of local trails available.

8 primitive equestrian campsites with corrals near Bandon. Water available. Trails and beach riding.

Cape Blanco State Park Campground

8 primitive equestrian campsites with corrals near Port Orford. Seven miles of riding trails and a 150-acre riding area.

Wild Mare Horse Campground

next to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, north of Coos Bay. Twelve spacious campsites with stalls for 2 or 4 horses. Water available.


Northern Oregon Coast

Nehalem Bay State Park Campground

17 well-separated, primitive equestrian campsites, each with a double stall. Located north of Tillamook. Water, manure bin, and warm-up corral. Ride on the beach and on inland trails.

Cascade Lakes

Whitefish Horse Camp, Crescent Lake,  Oregon

Whitefish Horse Camp

on the western side of Crescent Lake, featuring 13 single campsites and 5 double campsites, with double or quadruple corrals. Water and manure bin provided. Ride up Whitefish Trail and into the Diamond Peak Wilderness.

Chief Paulina Horse Camp

Located in Newberry National Volcanic Monument, south of Bend. 14 campsites, eleven with corrals for 2 horses, three with corrals for 4 horses. No potable drinking water. Many riding trails to nearby lakes and craters.





Crater Lake Area

Collier Memorial State Park Campground

on the west side of Highway 97, southeast of Crater Lake. Open space with 4 corrals, hitching post, water, and tables; but no restrooms (find them nearby in the family day-use area). Ride the Collier Kimball Trail to Jackson F. Kimball State Park. Other good trails available.

Willamette National Forest

Big Meadows Horse Camp, Oregon

Big Meadows Horse Camp

near the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness, 33 miles west of Sisters. Nine campsites each with a 4-horse corral. Hitching racks, manure bin, loading ramp. Potable water.


Willamette Valley

Howard Creek Horse Camp, Oregon

Silver Falls State Park - Howard Creek Horse Camp

24 miles east of Salem. Oregon's largest state park. Six campsites with corrals for up to 4 horses each. Plus, a group site for up to 24 people and 12 horses. Potable water.
